We exist to help bring a co-ordinated response to any situation where refugees have arrived into Milton Keynes and are in need.
We do this in 3 ways:
1
We put people first. This means we seek to build relationships with the individuals and families that arrive in Milton Keynes, whether they are with us for a few days or staying permanently.
2
We identify individual needs and work with experienced partners to ensure that each individual and family receives what it needs in the short and longer term.
3
We build systems and processes to ensure that funds raised, items donated, or volunteers’ time is used with maximum efficiency and for maximum impact.
Our partners
National and local authorities
Whatever the situation, we are committed to working with council authorities to ensure a coordinated response, and to access the appropriate services depending on need.
Local and national charities
When it comes to meeting the immediate or longer-term needs of new arrivals into our community, we always seek to partner with existing charity partners who have the appropriate experience, expertise and resources to support our work. Whether it’s practical needs such as clothing, food or hygiene products, or the provision of emotional and mental support we always work with those best equipped to deliver the right support to the right people.
Existing partners include:
- Red Cross
- Baby Basics MK
- MK Storehouse
- Food Bank MK
Faith communities
We work with all faith communities as we respond to the needs of any situation. We take particular care to make connections through shared ethnicity, culture and faith, which makes such a positive difference to the welcome and orientation for all those who arrive.
